This ongoing series was started in 2009 when I realized that most home owners were eradicating many of the host plants needed for butterflies, moths and other pollinators with pesticides. It is my goal in this series of paintings to educate the public that insects and plants are interdependent on one another. A mono-culture of a green lawn with no weeds or insects is NOT a healthy environment. This series of paintings won a silver medal from the Royal Horticultural Society in London.
